uk4u GIFT BOXES TO THE TROOPS IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS 2012
Sally Little, uk4u Director and Trustee, showed the uk4u Christmas Box 2012 to Corporal Daniel Smith whilst sitting in the cockpit of a C-17 at RAF Brize Norton. Daniel received a uk4u Christmas Box in 2011 when he was serving away from his family on Christmas Day and said what a morale booster it was for all the troops to know that people back home in the UK were thinking of him.
For Christmas 2012 over 22,000 uk4u Christmas Boxes will be received by Servicemen and women who are on operations and away from their loved ones on 25 December. The boxes are sent all over the world to members of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force including those serving on submarines. The boxes are also given to those in hospital who have been injured whilst serving on operations.
The Ministry of Defence gives their full support to uk4u and encourage members of the public to support the troops by donating through uk4u, rather than sending unnamed boxes of goodies through the British Forces Postal Service, as this can delay family parcels getting through at this busy time. However, there is no public funding and uk4u rely on their sponsors and the general public to raise the finances to continue to send the boxes each year.
