uk4u ANSWERS MoD's CALL FOR FLEECE BLANKETS TO IMPROVE CONDITIONS FOR CASUALTIES USING THE RAF AEROMED SCHEME

uk4u, with help from one of its long standing sponsors,Cooneen, Watts & Stone, has provided 500 fleece blankets to supplement the Aeromed Comfort Enhanced Pack given to wounded service personnel being airlifted back to the UK for medical treatment. This followed a request by the MoD.
The blankets are similar to those provided by civilian airlines on long haul flights and are designed to keep patients warm and comfortable during the flight back to the UK. They are green in colour with the uk4u logo embroidered on the front. The first blanket was presented by Brigadier David Martin, uk4u Trustee, to the Commanding Officer of the Role3 hospital in Camp Bastion, Commander Carol Betteridge and the Air Evacuation Liaison Officer, Squadron Leader Fiona McGlynn in the presence of Commodore Mike Bath, ACOS J1/J4 PJHQ.
The RAF Aeromed Service escorts more than 3,000 wounded or injured Service personnel a year from all parts of the world to the most appropriate medical facility for their needs. Often, flights are long haul and on RAF transport aircraft where comfort is secondary to task capability.
